Veterans & Serving Personnel

Events/Support

Oadby & Wigston Borough has a strong relationship with the Armed Forces, with South Wigston being an old barracks town of The Royal Leicestesterhire Regiment in 1688,  later becoming the Leicestershire Tigers Regiment & now home to The Royal Yeomanry.
As a community centre in the heart of the community & for the past five years working with Oadby & Wigston Borough Council, Pilgrims Bandits and other local Armed Forces Commitees, we have been able to support local veterans, armed forces personnel and their families, by putting on free events as a way to say thank you. We also work closely with different agencies/charties around the county as part of a local social prescribing service where we able to get extra support & help as & when needed.
Below are events which are open to veterans/serving personal along with family & friends, which run throughout the year

Oadby & Wigston Borough AFVBC

While here you can enjoy home cooked food from full English Breakfast to a lovely cream tea to a Sunday roast.
Elliott Hall wanted to carry on supporting further so came part of the Worldwide organsation called the Armed Forces Veterans Breakfast Club (CIC), which is run by volunteers of whom are veterans or linked to the forces. This group offer more than most AFBVC which you will notice when visiting them either at the venue or at one their events around the borough of Oadby & Wigston or the district of Market Harborough.
