Veterans & Serving Personnel

Events,Support & Information

Oadby & Wigston Borough has a strong relationship with the Armed Forces, with South Wigston being an old barracks town of The Royal Leicestesterhire Regiment in 1688,  later becoming the Leicestershire Tigers Regiment & now home to The Royal Yeomanry.
As a community centre in the heart of the community & for the past five years working with Oadby & Wigston Borough Council, Pilgrims Bandits and other local Armed Forces Commitees, we have been able to support our local veterans, armed forces personnel and their families, by putting on free events as a way to say thank you. We work closely with different agencies/charties around the county as part of a local social prescribing service where we able to get extra support & help as & when needed.
Below is information on events which are open to veterans & serving personnel which are free, your welcoem to bring along with family & friends. Also below is information on support with contact information as well as other informtion and images.

We wanted to carry on supporting further so came part of the Worldwide organsation called the Armed Forces Veterans Breakfast Club (CIC), which is run by volunteers of whom are veterans or linked to the forces in some way. This group offer more than most AFBVC which you will notice when visiting them either at the venue or at one their events around the borough of Oadby & Wigston or within the district of Market Harborough.

Our purpose is to facilitate veterans and serving Armed Forces personnel to meet face to face in a relaxed, safe, social environment to enjoy breakfast and banter, to combat loneliness and allow veterans to ”return to the tribe”
